Principal's Updates

January 14, 2022

Dear Notre Dame Community,

We have been monitoring COVID exposures throughout campus as our community’s health and safety are top priorities. 

As a further precaution and to minimize the risk of exposure, we will temporarily transition to remote instruction the week of January 18-21, following the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Our campus will undergo a deep cleaning in classrooms and other common areas with maintenance on the ventilation systems during this time.

We will follow the same Winter Homecoming Week schedule and continue our usual curricular format and class meetings off-campus via Zoom.  Athletics and Extracurricular activities will continue and the campus offices will be open, including Student Services. 

We anticipate this remote instruction will only be necessary for one week to slow down the risk of exposure amongst our students and staff.  We will continue to communicate with you regarding updates on COVID protocols, exposures, and testing requirements, and, if necessary, we will extend the remote instruction timeline. 

For those students who have already been placed on quarantine, Extended Absence protocols will remain for the 7 days vaccinated and 10 days unvaccinated; please refer to your return date.

Dear Notre Dame Community,

Welcome back students, faculty and staff.

As we return to campus life we are constantly monitoring the safety of our community. It is our first priority to maintain the health and well being of our students.  We have been monitoring COVID exposures amongst campus and want to slow exposures or even the spread.  

Effective Wednesday, August 11, 2021, we are requiring all students, staff and visitors to conduct our Health screening before entering campus as an extra precaution. A link will be available on the website and also sent each morning via RenWeb Parent Alert text.  In addition, we are recommending the use of masks outdoors and will continue to follow all indoor mask guidelines.  We are also encouraging masks to be worn for indoor athletic activities and cohort training pods.

We will be opening the parking lot gate at 6:50AM and the front gate will open at 7:15AM with a staff member checking for health screening completion by each student.

Dear Notre Dame Community,

We are officially one week away from the start of the 2021-2022 school year, and we are excited to welcome you all back to campus! This past year has seen so many changes, and we thank you for your patience and understanding during these transitional periods. As mentioned before, we will return to our traditional campus life setting this fall with a few updates to keep us all safe and healthy. Please review our school website for all COVID updates, including mask mandates, travel policy, and social distancing. 

We have returned to our block bell schedule for this school year, and you may notice different variations depending on the week of events. You can view our bell schedule for the week as well as events for the entire school year on our website’s ND community calendar.

The campus will resume regular business hours on Thursday, August 5th, from 7 AM-3 PM. If you need any assistance prior, please contact the appropriate party via email.

Dear Notre Dame Community,

We are excited to get our students back on campus next week! To help ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families, we've enlisted the help of local CUUR Diagnostics- a Molecular Infectious Disease Diagnostics company currently managing testing for schools across California. Details about CUUR Diagnostics can be viewed here and on their website. 

We invite you and your whole family to participate in our first scheduled COVID-19 testing event this Friday, March 26th, from 3:30-5:00 PM in the SCA/ND parking lot. Trained and certified collectors will be on-site and there is no cost to participate. We plan to host testing every two weeks for our community. View the full details here. 

The collection is quick and painless for kids - and even some adults.

If you and your family would like to participate, please review the event details attached. Although we will have everything you need available at the testing site, it will go MUCH faster if everyone comes prepared with paperwork in hand.

Dear Notre Dame Community,

The following is an update on the return of our students back on campus.  The County has changed the most recent guidance for the reopening of schools. Riverside County must be in the Red Tier to allow grades 7-12 to return to campus. These announcements of Tier and CR (Case Rate) changes occur every Tuesday on the Riverside County Public Health System website. We continue to monitor updates weekly and look forward to our reopening campus soon!

  • March 31st: Flex Day classes will occur off-campus and meet on Zoom only as needed

  • March 31st: Teacher Inservice 
     
• April 1st & 2nd: No School (Holy Thursday/Good Friday)
• April 5th-9th: Easter Break
• Week of April 12-16: NEW Hybrid Learning Schedule (On Campus)

We will continue to announce how our “back on campus” will look; ie: Schedule, Uniforms, Drop off and Pick up.

If you are concerned about your student returning to campus this school year, please see our COVID Safety Plan posted on the website and reach out to your counselor in order to accommodate your student's schedule.  All students must be on campus for instruction if participating in extracurricular activities.

Dear Notre Dame Community,

We hope that you and your family are safe and healthy.

Over these past weeks, county Case Rates have decreased to levels that allow for schools to open and we continue working towards our return to campus. Riverside County Health’s March 2nd website update posts the recent CR (Case Rate) at 11.3; grades 7-12 may return to campus once the CR is equal or less than 7 and/or Riverside County is in the red tier. K-6 students are returning to campus soon, so please keep them in your prayers.  

Please continue to review our website for all reopening and school updates, as this is our primary platform for communication.

This week, many athletes have returned to the field, outdoor courts, the pool, and track for practice and games. We are blessed to welcome you all back and are proud of all our students. You can view upcoming events/schedules by visiting our athletics page here.

Dear Notre Dame Community,

Please see the attached letter, from the Office of the Bishop, regarding reopening. 

Catholic Schools in San Bernardino County met the CDPH guidelines of 25/100,000 cases required 5 days in a row and will reopen starting Monday, February 22nd. 

At this time, Riverside is at 28/100,000 and moving in the right direction. As a reminder, grades 7-12 may reopen when the county is in the red tier for 5 consecutive days and/or CR of 7/100,000. Grades K-6 may reopen when the county is under a CE of 25/100,000. 

Please keep all our Catholic schools in the Diocese of San Bernardino in your prayers and blessings as they return to campus.

Dear Notre Dame Community,

Happy New Year! We pray you and your families had a wonderful Christmas season and are looking forward to the new year to come. Our hope is that you all enjoyed this two week rest and as we start the next semester with our 2nd annual Retreat Week, we can all Stand Up! Let’s Stand for Him and thank God for all our blessings. Retreat Week

The week of January 4-8, 2021 is our 2nd annual Retreat Week. The theme this year is “Stand Up! I appoint you as a witness of what you have seen” Acts 26:16. As we ease back into the classroom we ask all our students, staff and families to enjoy this week of reflection, faith and opportunity. Participation in daily sessions will be a grade in Theology class for our students. Reopening Update

Governor Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday, December 30th the new state plan to re-open schools for in-person learning as early as February. The plan focuses on bringing the youngest and most disproportionately affected students back first. We continue to work with the Office of Catholic Schools, Emergency Operations Collaborative and the County of Riverside Health Department as we prepare for our schools reopening. In order for schools to implement a reopening plan, the county COVID-19 case rate must fall below 28 cases per 100,000 people. We will continue to provide updates as we move forward and thank our Notre Dame community for your continued support.

Student Services

As a reminder, digital report cards were emailed to students and guardians on Friday, December 18, 2020. If you have yet to receive your report card via email, please contact Mr. Adrian Rodarte at arodarte@ndhsriverisde.org. Our offices resume Monday, January 4th and will be happy to assist you between the hours of 7am-3pm via email or telephone. 

We have made changes to the weekly distance learning class schedule. This updated schedule allows for more uniform class meetings, longer time between classes, and an extended lunch period. The new schedule will go into effect on Monday, January 11th.

Dear ND Community,

As we move into our 2nd quarter, we reflect on our time in Catholic Online Synchronous Learning at Notre Dame. We are blessed to have amazing teachers, supportive staff, and dedicated students. We continue to monitor our county's movement through the Tier system, work with our community on reopening plans, and value the Office of Catholic Schools/Bishop's Office's support.

Dear Titan Families, 

The month of October is always a celebration of life as we recognize those who have fought, are fighting, or have lost their battle with cancer. Although this year’s celebration looks different than usual, we refuse to let that keep us from honoring our loved ones. While we’re unable to gather together for our annual Pink Brunch, there are still many ways our community can partake in honoring our fighters, survivors, and angels. As we wrap up our first quarter and roll into the second half of the semester, please remember to stay focused and thrive! Quarter grades can be viewed on Schoology and will be recorded on your official transcript. Please use the coming week to carefully review your grades before the end of the quarter on Friday, October 16th. 

We regret to inform our families that Mrs. Brittney McKeehan has accepted another job opportunity, and her final day with Notre Dame will be on October 16th. During Mrs. McKeehan’s time at ND, she has created a vibrant Student Services office and will surely be missed. Please join us in thanking Mrs. McKeehan as we pray for many blessings in her new endeavor.  

Campus Survey

We appreciate your time and attention to the Return to Campus Survey. If you have not completed the survey, please expect to hear from our counselors as we must ensure we have received all responses. Additionally, we will follow up with families who have chosen undecided and need more information to make a decision. Once a reopening date is announced, we will host a Zoom meeting for On Campus Students and Distance Learning Students on the protocol/procedures moving forward.

Dear Titan Families, 

Riverside County moved to the Red Tier of the state's reopening plan last week, bringing us one step closer to resuming classes on campus. Diocesan preschool programs will begin in-person instruction on October 1, and if our county stays in the Red Tier for two weeks, K-12 grade schools will be able to revisit their reopening dates.

We have been blessed to have small groups of students on campus for athletic training and community participation during our college/career month. We thank those families for allowing your student to participate in our safe social distance activities. These small events help our students and staff familiarize themselves with safety protocols and procedures.   

As we continue preparing our safe-return to campus, we need your feedback. We kindly request that every family completes the student-return form below, as results will provide us with vital information as we review our reopening plan.

We've made it through our first week of the 2020-2021 school year! We're virtually excited to have you with us this school year, and can't wait to hear about your first week's experiences! We owe a huge thank you to our supportive ND community as we navigate through this new chapter. To the behind the scenes teams who got us ready for the first day, the teachers who guide us through our daily routine, and to our families for saying yes to Catholic Online Synchronous Learning. The start of this school year may be different from what we planned, but we are creating innovative experiences to keep our community Titan Strong. Our New Student Orientation was a success, and it was great to see you in person for iPad pickups.
